Wednesday, March 24, 2010:The 1st All Pakistan inter University Debate competition was held from March 02 to March 10, 2010 organized by L.E.J. National Science Information Center, ICCBS, University of Karachi. The main objective of the event was to raise awareness about the potential benefits and advantages of Video Conferencing initiative of the Higher Education Commission.
More than 70 Universities from five different regions Punjab, NWFP, Federal & Gilgit Baltistan, Balochistan & AJK and Sindh participated in the contest. Top two universities of each province qualified for the finals. All the reputed universities like FAST-NUCES, NUST, Punjab University, NTU, NCA, UAF, Bahria University, NTU, FJWU, Frontier Women University, IMS, KUST, NWFP Agriculture University, Karakurum International University, University of AJK and many more.
Haider Miraj from FAST-NUCES, Islamabad was declared the best debater in the final round. The second position was secured by Farwah Batool ,IBA, Sukkur while the third prize went to Rohina Shah, FWU, Peshawar The chief guest for the contest was the renowned intellectual and educationist PROF. DR. SHAHANA UROOJ KAZMI, Dean Faculty of Sciences, UOK . PROF. DR. ATIYA ABBASI gave the welcome address and PROF. DR. Iqbal Chaudhary, Director ICCBS gave his views on telephone. The contest was attended by a large number of students, faculty, staff members, Dean’s and Vice Chancellors.
